Srinagar, Feb 12 :- S P Pani has taken the charge as new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, making him the youngest officer to hold the position.
“Pani, a 2000-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Jammu and Kashmir carder, took over the charge of IGP, Kashmir on Monday,” a police official said.

Pani took over the charge from Munir Ahmad Khan, who was promoted to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) security and home guards.
He has served in key positions, including as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) police, South Kashmir Range (SKR), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam and Kathua.

Pani took over on the day when militant made an unsuccessful attempt to storm a CRPF camp at Karan Nagar, less than a km from the office of IGP.
