Ganderbal, Sep 26【KNZ】:-The District Administration Ganderbal in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports today hosted the Half Marathon under the banner “Run for Swachhata.” The Half Marathon was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal which culminated at Government College of Physical Education Gadoora, Ganderbal.
Around 335 students from various schools of District Ganderbal and College of Physical Education Ganderbal participated in the event. The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Principal Govt. College of Physical Education Ganderbal/District Youth Services and Sports Officer Ganderbal and various officers and officials of different departments participated in the Run.
DDC Ganderbal appealed to the people to maintain a clean and hygienic atmosphere in the district and also pledged to continue the drive for a better eco-frinedly environment in the District. The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal also impressed upon the participants to remain committed towards cleanliness and propagate the message of “Swachhata Hi Sewa – Swachh Bharat Mission-” so as to make District Ganderbal a Model District of the State.
The prize distribution function was held at College of Physical Education, Gadoora Ganderbal where prizes were distributed among the winners. The first position in the Marathon Race went to Shoaib Mughal from Public High School Watlar.
All the participants jointly pledged their commitment towards the “Swachta Mission”
