Srinagar 01 Aug : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a driver of a vehicle with four kilograms of poppy straw in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An official said a truck (bearing registration No. JK02T 8625) was intercepted during routine checking at Alipora in Chadoora sub-division.

On its search, poppy straw weighing approximately four kilograms was recovered, he said.

“The driver of the said vehicle namely Balvinder Singh son of Jasbeer singh resident of Hoshiarpur, Punjab was arrested and vehicle was seized,” said the official.

In this regard, a case FIR No 76/2018 under section 08/15 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Chadoora and investigation was taken up.
