Srinagar, May 27 : A civilian who according to police was injured critically amid militants and government forces exchange brief gunfire at Kakapora in Pulwama, succumbed to injuries on late Sunday night.

Official sources told GNS that suspected militants opened fire upon army’s 50 RR camp at Kakapora.

While confirming the incident, SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary told GNS that militants fired upon the army camp late this night.

The fire was retaliated by army triggering off a brief encounter. In the incident a soldier was injured SSP said.

He said that a civilian is also said to have injured critically after receiving bullet wounds in the cross fire.

Sources said that the Injured civilian namely Bilal Ahmad Ganie, a sumo driver by profession of Narwa Kakapora received critical bullet wounds in his head and died on the spot.

However, SSP said that the civilian was shifted to PHC Kakapora where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Soon after the incident the government forces launched a hunt to nab the attackers.(GNS)
