Bandipora, Nov 27, CNS:  Amid pen down strike, scores of employees at Public Health Engineering Department Tuesday staged a protest against soldiers of 13 Rashtriya Rifles for allegedly thrashing two employees of the department while on duty.

Eyewitnesses told CNS that scores of employees assembled in the premises of SDM office Sumbal and demanded action against those soldiers who targeted two PHE employees while on duty.

“Two of our employees Ashiq Ahmed Wani and Firdous Ahmed Dar were ruthlessly beaten up inside the Hajin Water Supply Scheme by soldiers of 13 RR. The soldiers barged into the office during a search operation and targeted the employees without any reason and provocation,” the protesting employees alleged.

They demanded action against the erring soldiers and threatened to go for an indefinite strike in case no action is initiated against the guilty. An official said that they have already taken up the matter with the top brass of Army who have assured probe into the incident. (CNS)
