Srinagar, Dec 20Panic gripped Karmrazpora village in Pukwama district of south Kashmir after forces fired dozens of aerial gunshots while closing the cordon-and-search operation.

Official sources told GNS that government forces at around 2:00 pm launched a cordon-and-search operation at Kamrazpora following inputs about the presence o22f some militants.

In the evening when the forces were closing the CASO, two persons, one among them holding an AK-rifle, barged inside the residential house of Nambardar and posed themselves as militants while searching the house, some locals told GNS.

The locals suspected both of them as “informers” and caught hold of them. One who was holding the rifle opened fire indiscriminately and fled while another one believed to be from the adjoining village, was caught by people.  

When contacted, SSP Pulwama Mohd Aslam Choudhary told GNS that police was “verifying details.”

“The (CASO) was closed 4:45PM and we are verifying details about what happened after it in the village,” he said. (GNS)
