Damage caused to crops, orchards massive, merits immediate attention: Hanjura
Srinagar, Sep 14 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday expressed deep concern over the wide scale damage caused to the crops in Budgam due to hailstorm that occurred on Thursday.
In a statement to KNS, PDP General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said the sudden hailstorm that occurred on Thursday in the district has left a trail of destruction behind while causing massive damage to the Rice crops, pulses, vegetables and apple orchards crops. He added that the worst affected hamlets in the district Budgam were Mazhama, Kawoosa, Kanihama, Budran, Panzan, Hachroo, Kanir, Waghma and several others.
Hanjura while asking the government to assess the damages caused to the crops and orchards by the nature’s fury, demanded adequate relief and compensation to the hail storm victims at an earliest. “We appeal the government to take stock of the situation on ground and provide succor to the farmers immediately who have borne the brunt of the hail storm in Budgam,” Hanjura said in a statement.
