The political situation in Jammu and Kashmir has changed dramatically. Four years since the BJP entered into a coalition government with the PDP, the BJP pulled out of the coalition.

After these dramatic developments, there has been much speculation about the political scenarios in terms of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports said that PDP – Congress Likely to Form Government in J&K Soon. Highly Placed Sources said that PDP president and Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is in touch with Congress. Mehbooba Mufti is also in contact with Congress’s top brass in New Delhi including Ghulam Nabi Azad and Sonia Gandhi. Sources added that, something positive is going on between the Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.

The PDP has 28 seats and the Congress has 12 seats. They will need another 4 seats for a simple majority, which can be managed with the support of one CPI(M) MLA, PDF MLA and two independents.

Sources told that Congress has called an emergency meeting in Srinagar on July 3rd, 2018. When Contacted with Senior Congress Leader and Lawmaker from North Kashmir regarding Govt Formation, he said that I am not aware about the Development.

Pertinent to mention here, the 87-member house has 28 MLAs from PDP, 25 from BJP, 15 from the National Conference, 12 from the Congress, and the rest from smaller groups and independents.
