Jammu: Former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the unabated killings in Kashmir should stop.

“This continuous cycle of killings must end. We all have to end this bloodshed,” Omar said in the assembly. “We don’t want to play politics over it.”

He said on one side, the magisterial inquiry has been ordered and on the other side, FIR stands registered. “As per news reports, soldiers including Major have been named in the FIR, then why magisterial inquiry?” Omar questioned.

“Don’t politicise the issue. Measures should have been taken to stop the unabated killings,” he added.

The former CM said why action is not taken against those found guilty. He said the bullets have been shot at chest which signifies that the forces are not controlling the situation but only opening fire.

“Much innocent lives have been lost. We all are ready if you (government) are taking any measures to stop the continuous killings. NC will support you in every step aimed at ending the violence,” Omar said.
