SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 02: Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar today laid foundation of a foot bridge over river Jhelum at Pantha Chowk.

The Minister said that there are certain pockets in the capital city which have been ignored by previous regimes but the current government is committed to develop every area in uniform manner.

The foot bridge on the river Jhelum is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 4.16 crore under NABARD. In the absence of a bridge the residents have to cross the river in boats. The Minister said that the bridge will connect Sumerbugh, Soiteng areas directly with National Highway. The officials informed the Minister that the bridge will have RCC pile foundation with RCC decking over steel girder. It will have a span of 105 mtr and a width of 1.80 mts.

The Minister was accompanied by MLA Sonwar Mohammed Ashraf Mir, Chief Engineer R&B and other officials.

Later the Minister also interacted with various delegations of people from the area and heard their problems. The Minister gave on the spot directions to address their problems.
