Srinagar: A 16-year-old Kashmiri girl who was missing since 15 February has been traced by the Bagh-i-Bahu police station of Jammu on Wednesday morning, said police.

The girl Sameera Akhtar was located from a local lady who had kept the girl at her home for five days. A police officer Sunil Kumar told The Kashmir Walla, “We traced her after five days through the call logs of her parents. She had run from the home after her parents rebuked her. She had contacted a lady who knows her and was at her home,” he said.

Adding that the police is questioning the girl about the matter. “But, we will take strict actions against her parents who circulated on social media that she was abducted by the mob after violent protests in Jammu,” Mr. Kumar said.Ms. Akhtar, a resident Sithran village of Budgam district who was currently residing at Jammu in a rented apartment in Bagh-i-Bahu area of Jammu was missing since Friday when her family members were not present at home. qns
