Suspected militants attacked an army camp in Chillipora hamlet of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday night. However, there was no report of any casualties.

Sources said that militants fired few gunshots at the camp. The army personnel retaliated by firing several shots, leading to a brief exchange of fire.

Soon after the incident, forces’ personnel comprising Jammu and Kashmir police, army’s Rashtriya Rifles and Central reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off the whole area to nab the attackers, they said.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Superintendent of Police Shopian, Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar said: “Some gunshots were heard at army camp in Chillipora on Sunday evening and they were retaliated. There was no report of any damage.”
