Bandipora, 31 Jan: The residents of Madar Ward No. 10 are up in arms against power development department (PDD) for continuous power outages due to damaged transformers. 

       The villagers alleged that department is adopting delaying tactics in repairing the defunct transformers and restoring electricity. 

       They demandedupgradation of 63 kv transformers to 100 kv’s in the area as they said that the current transformer is not able to bear the load and has to cater larger area.  

      They said two 63 KV transformers of their village went defunct three times inpast few months leaving the village reeling under darkness. “We have requested PDD authorities to replace the low capacity transformers with a higher one so that it can bear the load of the all households of the village but all in vain as our pleas fell on deaf ears,” said Mohammad Hanief Rather.    

    They demanded that their 63 KV transformer should be replaced with high capacity transformer so that it can bear the load of the area. 

       Officials of PDD said that locals are not using power judiciously and they run motors, heaters, boilers and other electricity gadgets. “That is why transformer develop snag and go out of order,” said an official. 

       Assistant Executive Engineer PDD Bandipora Reyaz Ahmad assured that, “the transformer will be repaired at earliest”.
