Srinagar: Lieutenant General AK Bhatt has been appointed as the new General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Srinagar-based Army’s 15 Corps replacing Lt Gen J S Sandhu, who takes over as the new Military Secretary, reports said on Friday.

Reports quoting defence sources said that Lt Gen Bhatt would take over from Lt Gen Sandhu, who had taken over as the GoC 15 Corps on November 1, 2016.

Pertinently Lt Gen Bhatt had taken over as the DGMO in November last year to oversee all crucial operations being conducted by the Army.

Bhatt would be the 47th Corps Commander of the Army’s strategic Srinagar-based 15 Corps.

The sources said Lt Gen Bhatt himself would be replaced by 3 Corps (Dimapur) Commander, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan who would take over as the new DGMO at Army headquarters in Delhi by January-February 2018.
