Srinagar, January 30:As light rain lashed the plains in the Kashmir Valley, minimum temperature here on Tuesday rose above the freezing point after nearly two months.

“The improvement in minimum temperatures across the valley has finally broken the intense cold wave,” an official of the Met department said.

The minimum temperature was 2.2 in Srinagar, 1.2 in Pahalgam and minus 4.6 in Gulmarg.

The 40-day long period of harsh winter called the ‘Chillai Kalan’ would also end on Tuesday.(IANS)
