Ganderbal October 27【KNZ】 :Krishi Vagyan Kendra Ganderbal in collaboration with department of Horticulture organized a soil health camp at Lar area here.

The participants were sensitized about the importance of soil health and its bearing on good horticulture crops, animal health and maximizing production and productivity.

Dr J.A. bhat , Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science), while addressing the participating farmers impressed upon the importance of maintaining soil health for maximizing crop production. Bhat also demonstrated the method of soil sample collection for lab analysis and recommendation of different soil nutrients

Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi Subject Matter Specialist (AnimalScience) outlined the importance of integrated farming for better returns to farmers.
“Integrated farming of which poultry, cattle sheep and goat are an integral part ensures self sanitation of orchards and better returns per unit area of land under small land holdings as in Kashmir Valley”.He said

Dr F. A. Ahanger Subject Matter Specialist (plant pathology) delivered a detailed lecture on common plant diseases and their management.
Dr Mohammad Saleem and Mr Sanjeev of horticulture department also spoke on the occasion.

Later door to door visits and on spot treatment of animals, poultry, plants and collection of soil samples for analysis were made by the KVK scientists
