Ganderbal Oct 13【KNZ】:On the occasion of World Egg Day, hatching vanraja eggs were distributed among tribal farmwomen of Yarmuqaam area of Ganderbal district by KVK Ganderbal, SKUAST-K.


The off campus theme based programme entitled, ‘Egg as an unadulterated cheap super food for all’ was organized as a part of celebration of World Egg Day being celebrated on 2nd Friday of October all across the world.
Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Reshi, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science) educated the participating farmwomen about the importance of eggs for different age groups as a nutritious cheap food besides raising poultry birds scientifically under backyards.


Dr Javid Bhat, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science) threw light on the production of quality manure and vermicompost from the poultry droppings, animal dung and kitchen waste.

On the occasion, Scientists Dr Nasreen Jahan, Dr Frooq Ahmad Ahanger and Dr Shahid Rasool also spoke about the different farming activities.
Fertile hatching eggs were distributed among the participating farmwomen free of cost. The locals of the area hailed the initiative of the SKUAST-K in arranging such programmes and demanded for more such activities in the future.
