Ganderbal, May 02, 2018:- Department of Agriculture, District Ganderbal today organized Kissan Kalyan Diwas (Farmers Welfare Day) at Sub Divisional Agriculture Office Complex, Chek-Duderhuma under “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.” The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla was Chief Guest on the occasion.
Large number of farmers from different zones of District Ganderbal participated in the programme. The farmers were given demonstrations on various farmer related issues like Collection of Soil Samples from the field, Mushroom Cultivation, Honey Bee Cultivation, organic farming. Besides, they were also informed how to raise vegetable nursery in Poly-Green houses/Hot bets and cultivation of vegetables during off season.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Ganderbal stressed upon the officers and field functionaries of the department to gear up and work in a dedicated manner for effective implementation of different centrally and state sponsored schemes.
DDC also urged upon the farmers to take advantage of the schemes available with the department to increase the farm yield and to enhance their financial standing.
Various speakers on the occasion apprised the gathering regarding various programs being implemented by the department for the betterment of farming community and provided technical knowhow regarding various income generating schemes.
Later, DDC also distributed hybrid seeds and Soil Health Cards among the farmers.
Among others Chief Agriculture Officer- Ganderbal, District Agriculture Officer Ganderbal, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Ganderbal, Scientists from KVK Ganderbal and Subject Matter Specialists of the Department were also present on the occasion.
