Poonch:Police on Saturday said that it rounded up some of the suspected persons in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old woman in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Anzar Mir told GNS that they have detained some suspects with regard to the killing of the woman who was “mercilessly” murdered.

“During the sustained interrogation, it came to fore that some of the close relatives of the deceased are said to be part of the hatched conspiracy to kill the woman Shakeela Bi, wife of Mohammad Farooq of Kunian,” he said.

After it came to fore that the woman was murdered, the case under section 174 CrPC has been now changed into the murder case, he said.

The officer said that in this connection, an FIR number 222/2018 has been registered under section 302 RPC in police station Poonch.

The SHO said that the case is being investigated on the fast track basis and is expected to be solved within a couple of days.

On Wednesday evening (December 19), police recovered a throat-slit body of a woman from the nearby bushes in Kaunian village.

He identified the deceased as Shakeela Akther, wife of Mohd Farooq of Kaunian Poonch.

The husband of the deceased woman is said to be in Sudia Arabia since last year. (GNS)
