November 25:Police on sunday issued a statement in which it said that on a credible input about the presence of militants, a swift search operation was launched jointly by Police and security forces at Bathien area of Khrew in Awantipora.
As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militant. The fire was retaliated leading to a brief exchange of gunfire.
Consequently one militant was killed in the exchange of fire.
Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition AK 47 Rifle and Magazines were recovered from the killed militant. From the incriminating material recovered, it is learnt that the killed militant is a Pakistani codenamed as Waseem. He was affiliatemilitants proscribed terror outfit JeM.
Police has registered a case in this regard and area is being searched.
