Srinagar, December 20【KNZ】:Kashmir Shuts to mourn the death of three civilians, militants killed in anti militant operations during separate gunfights in last one week life remained adversely effected in view of JRL Kashmir bund call today against the three civilian killings call has been given by Joint Resistance Leadership and appealed people to support this strike and observe a complete shutdown today.

Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for strike today to protests, against the killings of three civilians in firing by government forces namely Misra Bano, Asif Iqbal, and Beauty Jan.

Misra Bano was killed during an encounter between militants and government forces in Younso village of Handwara on December 11. Police stated that the woman was killed in “cross-fire” after she tried to escape from the house where three militants were trapped.

Asif Iqbal, a sumo driver was killed in alleged army firing in Thandipora village of Kupwara on Saturday night. However, an army spokesman claimed that the driver was killed in “cross-fire” between militants and army.

Beauty Jan (24) was killed after being hit by a bullet fired by government forces to disperse protesters near the site of gunfight in Shopian Yesterday.

most of the shops, fuel stations and other business establishments were shut across Kashmir, valley today while public transport was off the roads educational institutions remained shut on account of winter vacations.

Meanwhile Life across Kashmir valley today came standstill and remained paralysed due to the JRL strike call in Srinagar city including Puwlama, Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam Tangmarg, Sopore, Rafiabad and Handwara areas with shops and other business establishments remaining closed and traffic off the roads.

Authorities imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city today under Section 144 of CrPC remained in force under the jurisdiction of seven Police Stations Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, M R Gunj, Safakadal and partially in Kralkhud and Maisuma, as a precautionary measure to prevent protests and avoid any untoward incident in the city.

Coils of barbed wire have been placed at traffic crossings in the areas under restrictions.

Heavy contingents of police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed.

Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been placed under house arrest in his Nigeen residence while Geelani continues to remain under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence.

Train service has also been suspended today in the Valley for security reasons.

Mobile Internet remained suspended in some parts Valley, but BSNL’s broadband services were working.
