Rana, Chowdhary want to control cable from Jammu against court orders’..

SRINAGAR ÷ Kashmir cable operators on Friday protested against the Jammu based cable distributors for trying to shift the cable network control to Jammu.

Demanded an “independent cable network” for Kashmir, the cable operator’s alleged Davendra Rana and Subash Chowdhary want to “control cable network from Jammu” instead of Kashmir.

Mustaq Ahmad Khan, a senior cable operator in the Valley, said, “We have already had a court agreement two years ago in which it was mentioned that we can start our own cable network in Kashmir.”

Rana and Chowdhary demand want to control cable network from Jammu. They have also closed our pay channels in Kashmir but we also got two stay orders from Jammu and Srinagar as well. We have also informed the police station concerned,” he added.

“Kashmir based cable operators alleged that some callers identifying themselves from Cargo (special police station) asked us to close the cable network in Kashmir,” he alleged.

“If the court has given the stay order, why are we being threatened and harassed?”

Shakeel Ahmad, who is president of Cable Operators Association Kashmir, said, “We have more than two hundred cable operators in Kashmir. If it is closed in Kashmir, our families and customers will suffer.”
