SRINAGAR, SEPT 26【KNZ】: Minister for Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Disaster Management, Abdul Rehman Veeri, today said that development of infrastructure under Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) offers opportunity for mega infrastructure upgradation in J&K.

The high level meeting was attended by CEO JTFRP Sandeep Nayak, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Shalendra Kumar, Commissioner Secretary PWD Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Development Commissioner PWD Bimal Tikoo, Chief Engineer Kashmir R&B Sheikh Hameed, Managing Director JKPCC Daleep Thusoo, Director Disaster Management Authority Aamir Ali and other officers.

The Minister stressed on the officials to expedite the process of strengthening resources and get approvals at fast pace under the World Bank funded, the $250 million Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project.

The Minister sought the details of the projects worth Rs 459.74 crore being executed by R&B Department in Kashmir Division under JTFRP submitted for the approval and asked for the status of other projects besides directing them to expedite the process of formulating DPR and tendering them out.

The Projects about which Minister sought status report include Construction of 2 additional spans on either side of existing bridge at Seer Nambal including approaches, strengthening/ up gradation of Sangam Khudwani road length  11.50 km,  construction of span trussed girder bridge over nallah lidder in place of damaged vented causeway on Buchroo Barazulla Frisal road at Damidullah in Kulgam, Construction of bridge over nallah Arpath between Telwani and Khundroo in Anantnag, construction of bridge of Kulgam Chamgund road, construction of girder bridge over nallah ramblara at Kumar Mohalla Wachi, Construction of Motorable bridge over River Jehlum at kandzal pampore and other works.

The Minister also sought report about the projects worth Rs 259.16 crore for Jammu being executed by the R&B Department besides submitting revised Terms of Reference (TOR) at the earliest for all the projects.

The Minister also asked for status of health infrastructure being created under the World Bank funded programme.

The meeting was informed that tenders Rs 113.94 crores for 49 dewatering stations , Water testing equipment for checking water quality of water that will go into water bodies have been issued.  The Minister was also informed that DPR for Pump station central- SKADA Building has been submitted to the World Bank, besides DPR for drainage system for low lying areas of Srinagar and Jammu is in progress under AMRUT.

Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Shalendra Kumar informed the Minister that a comprehensive data base for artisans of J&K is in final stage of completion besides development of three handicraft clusters for which best consultants would come up through direct method of selection.KNZ
