SHOPIAN, MARCH 8: Jammu Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission Shopian celebrated women’s day at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian, To commemorate the social, cultural and political achievements of Women across the globe on International Women’s day.

The theme of the Programme was “Plant a tree for me”. On the occasion Self Help Groups of JKSRLM were made aware about the importance and role of tress in our lives and later various saplings of deodar trees were planted in the premises.

Chief Education Officer Shopian said that the mission is a unique programme focusing on women empowerment through self-managed self-sustainable livelihoods aimed at removal of poverty. “The core belief is that the women have immense capabilities and strong desire to overcome poverty,” On International Women’s Day the department celebrates the success of women and aim was to attract the women towards the mission of self-sustenance, self-reliance and the independence.

District Manager JKSRLM said on the occasion 53 gram panchayat covered social mobilization in which 5100 households, 4987 households brought under Self Help Groups in which 650 Self Help Groups formed in the block and 239 Self Help Groups received Community Investment Fund @40000 per Self Help Groups. 442 Self Help Groups received RF 15000 per self help group.
