Srinagar, April 16: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front on Tuesday said it is deeply concerned over the continued detention and handing over of jailed party chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik to NIA. It also condemned the shifting of leaders to outside J&K jails.

JKLF vice chairman Saleem Haroon in a statement issued to GNS said: “Yasin Malik has been kept at some unknown place by NIA for unknown reasons which is a serious cause of concern to Kashmiris especially to his family. Such inhuman and frustrated acts are not going to yield any results for India as they are bound to fail.”

“Yasin Malik is a brave, revolutionary and dynamic leader of Kashmiri nation who is being followed by hundreds and thousands of people for his thought, ideology and sacrifices,” Saleem Haroon said, adding, “India must read the writing on the wall that Kashmir people want nothing less than freedom and it is in the interest of India to grant them this right as soon as possible.”

Haroon also strongly condemned the shifting of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Fayaz, vice president of Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri and other pro-freedom leaders to outside Jammu Kashmir jails.

“Such repressive and inhuman acts cannot deter our nation or our leadership from freedom,” he said.

Meanwhile, terming the ongoing election process as “a drama”, Saleem Haroon appealed people to stay away from these “so-called” elections saying that “the international community especially United Nations in one of its resolutions has also categorically termed such election as not a substitute to right to self-determination of people of the State of Jammu Kashmir”.

Meanwhile, the JKLF statement said that a two member party delegation comprising vice chairman Showkat Ahmed Bakhshi and zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal visited the residence of Prof. Abdul Rehman Wani and offered him condolences on the sad demise of his brother. (GNS)
