Efforts are on to rescue Ganderbal policeman:SSP Ganderbal Mr Khalil Poswal

Ganderbal 08 Feb (KNZ): Seven bodies of policemen have been recovered out of 10 policemen in Kulgam in South Kashmir following avalanche.

Policeman namely Parvaiz Ahmad Mir from Arampora Ganderbal Under belt no. SG CT 220 is still missing, a police official said

The rescued police personnel were shifted to hospital where their condition is stated to be stable,he said.

The mishap took place at Jawahar tunnel near Srinagar-Jammu National Highway early in the morning while cops in stationed in a police post located near it were emptying the place following an instruction by the senior officials.

Soon after the incident, the administration rushed police and rescue team to the spot to find out the missing persons

Strong winds and accumulation of snow on the path are, however, hindering the operations. The avalanche hit the north portal of Jawahar Tunnel on the Qazigund side on Thursday evening.

Rescue teams have reached close to the site of the avalanche this morning. All efforts are being made to evacuate the trapped persons,” a police official said.

When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ Contacted SSP Ganderbal Mr Khalil Poswal he said, “I just talked to SSP Kulgam he told me he was not yet traced,and efforts are on”.KNZ
