Srinagar: Kashmir highway remained shut for the fifth straight day on Friday due to landslides in Ramban district.

A traffic police official said that fresh snowfall has occurred on both sides of the Jawahar Tunnel while it is also raining at several places on the highway. “Besides, landslides have hit Gagroo, Anokhi Fall and Battery Chashma areas,” he said.

The official said that due to bad weather the operation to clear the debris is on hold.

He said that no vehicle shall be allowed to ply on the highway unless it is absolutely safe to do so.(IANS)
