SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 27: Acting on a specific information, a team of forest officials of Surasyar Block here laid a naka and sized illicit timber on the intervening night of October 26 and 27.

During the naka, four horses loaded with illicit timber were spotted moving in the dark and the efforts were made to apprehend the armed smugglers, who retaliated back with sharp-edged weapons resulting in injuries to two forest officials, a statement of the Forest Department said.

A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits who left behind the illicit timber which was seized on the spot, the statement added.
