Hurriyat (G) takes out protest march against killing of political activists, scholars, intellectuals

Says ‘India facing a strong popular movement for right to self determination’
Srinagar, Sep 14 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (G) organized protest march against the recent hike in selective, mysterious and custodial killing of political activists, scholars and intellectuals at the hands of Indian agencies and incarcerating of innocent people including journalists, students and political activists on fictitious grounds.
The protestors chanting slogans to stop innocent killings, custodial killings and incarceration of youth, were demanding intervention of United Nations Human Rights Commission to take serious cognizance of the grass violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
The protestors, while marching towards the main Chowk Hyderpora, displayed the placards and banners written in Urdu and English to highlight their demands to safeguard their political and civil rights with reference to the movement for right to self-determination.
Senior members of Majlis Shoora and other representatives who participated in the protest march include Molvi Bashir Irfani, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Nisar Hussain Rather, Bilal Sidiqui, Bashir Ahmad Indrabi, Khawaja Firdous Wani, Hamid Ilahi, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Mohammad Hanif Dar, Arshad Aziz Shah, Mohammad Shafi Budgami in addition to hundreds of youth and other activists.
Addressing the gathering at Hyderpora, Hurriyat Secretary Public Relations, Molvi Bashir Irfani said that the Indian policy of suppression and repression in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to yield any positive results for India. Through the elongated period of ordeal and barbarism since 1947, India is currently facing a powerful people’s political movement for right to self-determination in every nook and corner of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, said the Hurriyat leader.
By using its heavy military power India has turned Jammu and Kashmir into a beautiful prison and a hell for its populace, but it has utterly failed to suppress the people’s sentiments for their legitimate demand for resolution of Kashmir issue in exercise of right to self-determination as recommended by the UNO, asserted the Hurriyat leader.
Paying rich tributes to Hakim-ur-Rehman and Dr. Abdul Ahad, the Hurriyat leader blames Indian agencies for their brute killings and leaving their families in a pathetic condition.
The protestors also raised slogans in favour of a complete election boycott for any upcoming polls in the state. (KNS)
