The Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to open a co-education boarding school in every district of the state. The education department has asked deputy commissioners to identify at least 50 kanals of land in each of 22 districts across Jammu and Kashmir.
The schools to be constructed on the pattern of Jawahir Navoda Vidyalaya (JNV) and Kendriya Navoda Vidyala (KNV) will be first of kind where students would be given counselling about their choice of career from the day they join the schools, officials informed. The schools will be named as State National Schools.
In an order issued early this week, the Directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) has asked district chief education officers to identify the land in consultation with respective deputy commissioners by December 15.
Marked as “most urgent” notification, the DSEK has said that these schools will be fully residential and co-education with classes from sixth to 12th standard.
“Identify a chunk of state land measuring at last 50 kanals, free from all encumbrances, at suitable locations,” the CEOs have been directed.
