Ganderbal 21 May【KNZ】:Residents of Gangangir village in Ganderbal district on monday staged protest against the Power Development Department as they are facing unscheduled power cuts in the area.

Unscheduled and extended power cuts have started aggravating the woes of locals in gagangir and have been witnessing frequent energy cuts putting the consumers to inconvenience in the area

Scores of inhabitants of Gagangir area of Gund staged a massive protest and blocked Srinagar-Leh highway at Gagangir due to which hundreds of vehicles including tourists and Army Convey were seen stranded on the busy highway.

The protesters chanted slogans against the concerned authorities for not providing them proper power supply even in the ongoing holy Month of Ramazan

“It is unfortunate that even in this holy month there are unscheduled power cuts at Sehri and Iftar time,” said a protester adding “despite repeated visits to higher officials nothing has been done so far.”

Protesters alleged that their area is still supplied power as per the winter schedule and power development department had failed to ensure proper power supply to them

Residents of Gagangir area and its adjoining areas while talking to our Correspondent that the Department doesn’t adhere to the schedule due to which the students preparing for examination are facing hardships,” they added.  

Later, SHO Police Station Gund Syed Arif Bukhari reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up their issue with concerned officials.【KNZ】
