Srinagar, Oct 18 (GNS): Four militants have been killed in an encounter with government forces in upper reaches of forests of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

Official sources told GNS that a search party of army’s 5 Grenadier intercepted a group of militants at Torna post in the woods of Boniyar at around 8:30 am.

“After being intercepted, the militants opened fire triggering off the gunfight which according to sources continued intermittently till 12:30 pm”.

An army officer also confirmed the incident and said that four unidentified militants have been killed and their identity and group affiliation are being ascertained.

“Three bodies have been recovered by the forces and additional reinforcements of army at around 1:30 pm and later one more body was recovered late in the evening as the area is a high terrain and have dense forest cover,” the officer said. (GNS)
