Advising a group of students from Jammu and Kashmir to follow the teachings of holy Quran, army chief Bipin Rawat said the message of peace and harmony is “beautifully portrayed” in the Quran and people often do not understand its essence.
General Rawat met the visiting students at his office in New Delhi, where he asked them to pick up sports and work towards containing militancy in valley.
“How many of you have read the holy Quran?” General asked the 25-member group.
“I will tell you what is the message in it. It is the message of peace and harmony. And, it has been beautifully portrayed in it. And, all this noise made by ISIS, it is nowhere mentioned in Quran,” he said and added that “you must follow the message embedded in the holy text. You think people understand the message. We do not properly understand it. In simple ways, Quran has given the lessons (on human values).
Pertinent to mention, valley students are in Delhi as part of ‘national integration’ tour conducted by the army.
