Srinagar, Jan 19: Five cops and three civilians were injured in a grenade blast at Pulwama area of south Kashmir on Friday.

Reports reaching news agency GNS said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards police station Pulwama resulting in injuries to eight persons including five policemen.

“Soon after the attack, cops opened some fire shots”.

“We have received eight persons with splinter injuries most of them are policemen”, a doctor at the district hospital Pulwama said.

SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary told news agency GNS that militants attacked a naka party of police outside the police station.

“Our five personnel suffered injured and have been hospitalized”, SSP said.

He said that searches have been launched to nab the attackers. (GNS)
