GANDERBAL, MARCH 26: in view of the restrictions imposed across the district to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal today directed the ICDS and FCS&CA to ensure effective distribution of food grains and other essential services at the door step of every beneficiary in the district.

The DC said this while chairing a meeting with the concerned departments to finalize a comprehensive plan of home delivery of dry Mid-Day Meal, advance two months ration and uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district to minimize the movement of individuals outside their homes.

To avoid inconvenience to the public at large, the DDC sought the feedback from the concerned officials regarding facilitating home delivery of ration, groceries, fruit, vegetables, dairies and animal products.

Additional Mission Director, State Rural Livelihood Mission, Sajid Yahaya Naqash and Joint Director Employment, Kashmir Shabir Ahmad, who are deployed for assisting in Corona Virus mitigation efforts with the district administration also shared their valuable feedback for smooth delivery of essential services to the people of the district.

The DC urged the ICDS and FCS&CA to start the process of distribution immediately under strict safety protocol to the beneficiaries covered under PDS and Mid-Day Meal scheme.

He appealed to the general public to cooperate with the administration and urged them to adhere to the advisories issued by the Government and follow the lockdown by staying at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

He said that district administration has put effective mechanism in place and is monitoring all these efforts round-the-clock to ensure that people of the district do not suffer besides we are ensuring that there are no lapses in preventive measures the administration has put in place for containment of spread of coronavirus in the district, he added.
The meeting also discussed the sanitation and fumigation drives in the district. EO Municipality said that teams deputed in their respective areas including sub-division Kangan are carrying fumigation process vigorously to disinfect public places like hospitals, designated quarantine centres, markets, government offices, religious places, police stations and other public places.
The meeting was also attended by ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, president Municipal Committee Ganderbal, EO Municipality, AD Food and other concerned.
