Srinagar, Feb 16 : An encounter started between militants and government forces at Palhallan village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.

Reports reaching news agency GNS said that a heavy contingent of army and SOG cordoned off the area today wee hours.

A senior police officer meanwhile confirmed to GNS that a joint team of army’s 29 RR, SOG and 53 bn CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Palhallan village following inputs about the presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight.

When reports last came in the gunfight was going on. (GNS)
