GANDERBAL, MARCH 13: District Election Officer Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today chaired a meeting of District Officers regarding the implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the district.        

At the meeting, the DEO discussed implementation of Model Code of Conduct. The DEO informed the officers about the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and urged them to follow the rules strictly.

On the occasion the DEO said to ensure free and fair elections, all the arrangements have been put in place in the district besides different committees have been constituted to check the implementation of MCC and have been briefed about the model code of conduct.

The DEO urged the district officers to adhere strictly to the rules of ECI and MCC. He said that the committees are constituted for monitoring the expenditure, putting up of flags, banners, the size of banners, the time of their installation and removal, the number of vehicles allowed for candidates during the filing of nomination etc.

He said the Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a slew of measures for free and fair polls which include Citizen Vigilance (C-Vigil) App, through which any voter can inform ECI, if he or she finds any violation of MCC in the elections in their booth that would enable people to lodge complaints regarding violation of the poll code of conduct.

The DEO while directing the Tehsildars to strictly implement the guideline of ECI, urged them to keep vigil on defacement of walls, Govt. buildings, bus stands besides use of Govt. vehicles by any candidate or political party.

Among others ADDC, Shafqat Iqbal, SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Poswal, CPO Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, ACD, Executive engineers of PHE, R&B, I&FC and other concerned district officers attended the meeting.
