Ganderbal, Jan 30:- Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla today inaugurated two weeks Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign which is also marked as Anti Leprosy Day at Town Hall Ganderbal.

The programme was organized by District Health Society Ganderbal. A rally of Health Workers and Asha’s carrying placards and banners commenced from CMO’s office Ganderbal culminating at Town Hall Ganderbal pleading awareness about the disease.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal spoke on the occasion and delivered the message on Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign which is also marked as Anti Leprosy Day. While highlighting the importance of the said programme, the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal stressed on creating proper awareness for self-reporting, timely diagnosis and complete MDT treatment of leprosy cases which is crucial for ultimate eradication of the disease at District and Block Level.
Deputy Commissioner also directed concerned institutions like Department of Education, Social Welfare Department, Panchayat Raj institutions, NGO’s and other voluntary organizations to play their role in Sparsh Leprosy Campaign.

Among others Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, Dr. Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Mehraj-Din, District Health Officer Ganderbal, District Social Welfare Officer, Health Workers, Asha’s and other civil society members were present on the occasion.
