Ganderbal, February 22:- District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal today flagged off 20 progressive fish farmers including a women entrepreneur on exposure visit under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) from the premises of Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex Ganderbal.
Assistant Director Fishries, Ganderbal, Ghulam Jeelani Pandith, District Information Officer Ganderbal, Riyaz Fazili, and various other officials of fisheries department were present on the occasion.
The DDC Ganderbal in presence of Assistant Director Fisheries interacted with the farmers and urged then to expand their units and promote fish culture in the District. The DDC assured the farmers that they will be provided every assistance including marketing facilities.
The DDC said that the tour will enable the farmers to bet acquainted with the latest fish farm techniques. He also urged the farmers to make best use of the training and demonstrations they will be imparted.
AD fisheries also informed the DDC that there are about 108 private fish farming units out of which 55 no.’s are Trout units and 53 no’s Carp units. The department under Blue Revolution Scheme provides 0.80 lacs for construction of Trout unit and Rs 1.00 lac as input cost viz feed, seed and equipment. For construction of carp unit under blue revolution scheme the department provides 0.42 lacs as construction cost and 0.09 lac as input cost viz feed, seed etc.
The AD Fisheries while giving the details of the tour activities of the farmers said that the private farmers will visit the Trout Fish Farm Laribal, Trout Farm Harwan, Fish Farm cum demonstration center Pandach and other progressive units of the District Srinagar.
