Takes stock of developmental works

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 05: The District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla today visited Fruit Mandi Zazna Ganderbal to take first hand appraisal of developmental works there.

He was accompanied by Senior Officers from Horticulture Planning and Marketing, PDD, R&B, PHE and other concerned officers.

During the visit Dr. Singla interacted with fruit growers association and traders from the area who apprised him about various issues pertaining to water supply, sanitation, road macadamization, power supply, installation of sign hoarding board besides other developmental issues of mandi.

The DDC took stock of the various works being executed on the mega project. During the detailed discussion with the officers, the DDC directed the concerned to expedite the pace of repair and maintenance work of internal roads for smooth and hassle free conveyance, installation of hoarding sign board at the main entrance of mandi and ensure completion of all related works well in time.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that this mandi would be beneficial in ensuring good returns to fruit growers, traders and all concerned and will help develop horticulture sector in the district.
Reiterating that fruit industry as the back bone of State’s economy, he stressed the officers to work with added zeal, synergy and close coordination with fruit growers association in the district so that the high grade fruit of the district reaches all States of the country without any difficulty thus raising economic graph of the district.

The DDC also appealed fruit growers association as well as fruit traders of the district to extend cooperation to the district administration and encourage all efforts towards realizing the objective of a fully functional and well-connected fruit mandi.

It is pertinent to mention here that out of the Rs 7.45 crore projected estimate of the mega project, an amount of Rs 3.30 Crore has been already spent so far on the said project.
