Uri 27 Feb【KNZ】:Traders Hold Protest In Border Area At Salamabad Uri

President of the union HilalTurkie while talking to reporters  said that government recently imposed ban on barter of Pistachio, Apple, Charmagaz and Anardana out of the 21 agreed tradable items between the two sides.

Outraged at the government imposing ban on trading of four commonly bartered commodities, cross LoC traders on tuesday decided to boycott the trade and went on an indefinite strike to oppose the decision.

Salamabad cross LoC traders union, an umbrella body of intra-Kashmir traders, staged a sit-in at Uri due to which cross LoC bus got stuck for two hours.

President of the union Hilal Turkie while talking to reporters said that government recently imposed ban on barter of Pistachio, Apple, Charmagaz and Anardana out of the 21 agreed tradable items between the two sides.

“Authorities regulating the cross-LoC trade are creating problems for the traders by banning certain goods,” Turkie alleged.

He said the trade boycott would continue till the ban is not revoked and the trade facilitation officer is not transferred.

“We are dismayed by the actions of the TFO Customs and Quarantine Section,” he added.

Turkie said imposing ban on these items has badly hit the cross-LoC trade and adversely affected financial condition of the trading community.KNZ
