DiCommissioner secretary School Education Reviews functioning of Education Department in Baramulla.rects ZEOs to spend three days per week in field.

Baramulla, August 21: The Commissioner Secretary School  Education Department, Farooq Ahmad shah today convened a review meeting at Dak Bangalow Baramulla to assess the implementation and progress of various educational projects under RMSA, a scheme aimed at universalisation of secondary education, SSA and to address other related concerns of school education department in the district.

 

The meeting was attended by DDC Baramulla, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash, DSEK, Dr. G.N. Ittoo, Project Directors – RMSA and SSA, CEO, ZEOs  Principals and Headmasters of various schools and field functionaries of education department.

 

DDC Baramulla apprised the Commissioner Secretary that Baramulla with a population of 1015503 has a literacy rate of 66.93 percent as per Census 2011, comprising of 18 Educational Blocks and a total of 1459 Government Schools after clubbing. “The need of the hour is not just smart classes, but smart schools where extracurricular activities are encouraged besides regular studies. Grooming talent for earning rich dividends at state, national and international platforms will motivates others. Achievements are contagious”, said DDC.

 

Meanwhile, Shah said the department endeavours to improve at all fronts be it academies, infrastructure or accountability. “We will ensure accountability of all officials including CEOs, ZEOs and teachers. No body can deny the fact, that strong education system is the foundation of a strong nation,” he said.

Secretary School education directed  ZEOs to spend three days in field per week, submit tour diaries to DESK and Secretary, and warned serious consequences for dereliction of directions.

 

Schools need to utilise information technology platforms like social networking to improve coordination, create awarness and connect with students at every level for inculcating motivation and scientific temper. “This sector demands commitment, dedication, altruism and proper training. We are working towards instituting annual awards and rewards for best performing teachers at district and state level,” said Shah.

He further said that teacher training programmes during mid-sessions will be revised. Training for all designated teachers every year will be imparted during vacations in summer and winter for convenience of the students. About complaints of involvement of some teachers in unfair means during board examination in far flung areas of the district, he issued stern warning that  teachers implicated for indulging in unfair means during examinations at all levels anywhere in the state will be termimated from services.

Shah directed all concerned to ensure attendance of students and make 90 percent attendance mandatory for appearing in exams. “There will be no mass promotions in any case,’ said Commissioner Secretary.
Later, Shah flagged off ceremony for distribution of ‘All Terrain Mountaineering Bikes’ to 40 eligible meritorious students of the district. He held an interactive session ‘Ru-ba-ru’ (fact to face) with the students organised by DSEK. The aim of Ru-ba-ru is to bridge the communication gap between students, teachers and authorities.
