SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 22 :Commandant General, Home Guards Civil Defence & SDRF, Shri Dilbag Singh IPS chaired a review meeting of officers regarding the Disaster Mitigation Capabilities and Civil Defence awareness campaign at SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu.

 

Shri Dilbag Singh sought details regarding the Disaster and Civil Defence awareness programs, SDRF trainings and rescue activities carried out by their respective units from the officers.

 

Commandant General complimented the officers for the good work they have carried out and urged them to work in Mission Mode and for enhancing the training and rescue capabilities.

 

Shri Singh also complemented the officers for enrolling and training in large number of volunteers who along with district SDRF participated in many rescue operations pertaining to accident victims, cross border firing victims, highway accidents and militancy victims.

 

The Commandant General informed the officers that Hon’ble Chief Minister was taking proactive steps for Building Disaster Mitigation Capacity. He said that Chief Minister took a state level review recently wherein arrangement for Disaster Mitigation funds has been made to provide Disaster Mitigation Authorities and State Disaster Response Force with required basic infrastructure and equipment. Procurement of required equipment for the District Disaster Response Force units shall be carried out on top priority as per instructions of the Chief Minister, Shri Dilbag Singh informed further.

 

Shri Singh further stated that rescue capabilities are being built Kashmir Region  in view of 2014 floods and for this purpose, various kinds of rescue boats are being made available under the directions of the Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti. Training programs in water rescue have been started in Dal Lake Srinagar. Shri Singh assured that there would be no dearth of resources as the State Govt is very keen and the Chief Minister is personally devoting attention to capacity building and rejuvenationof disaster mitigation. The officers were impressed upon to come upto the targets set for them.

 

The officers who attended the meeting included SsSP, Vikas Gupta, Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu, Rashmi Wazir, Commandant SDRF 2nd. Bn. Jammu, Dy.SsP Kewal Krishan, Jabeena Begum, Bhupinder, Naresh Kumar Chib, Rajesh Sandal, Shamsher Singh, Prithvi Pal Singh, Rajinder Parsad, Madan Lal, Mohd Ayoub Zarger, Krishan Singh, Anita Pawar, Sushma Kotwal, Khalid Hussain, Pran Nath Pandta, Hafiz-ullah, Sudershan Mehta and ASI Baldev Singh.

The officers conveyed the limitations that they were facing in terms of training and rescue equipment, mobility / transport, living/ office accommodation etc.
