Shopian:A Civilian who was injured in a gunfight between militants and government forces in the batmurran village of Shopian succumbed to injuries at district hospital Shopian on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Ayoub Bhat, a resident of Mulu Chitragaam who had received three bullets during the encounter.

It’s pertinent to mention, the overnight on December 19 in the dusky Batmurran village led to the killing of two Jaish-e-Muhammad militants and a housewife as post-incident clashes led to pellet injuries to many people. At least three protesters had received pellet injuries in their eyes. In that gunfight, two militants were killed while a woman died and around 50 protesters were injured near the encounter site.

The gunfight also resulted in the damage of two houses by government forces.
