SRINAGAR: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit, the Boulevard was sealed on Friday without any announcement by the authorities.

Modi is set to visit Srinagar on Saturday. The authorities sealed the Boulevard from Dalgate to Nishat, bringing inconveniences to locals…

Chaotic scenes were witnessed around Dalgate and near Nishat garden as police and paramilitary forces had erected barricades, leading to massive traffic jams.

Since morning, the security personnel stopped the civilian movement and no one was allowed from Dalgate and Nishat towards the Boulevard.

The residents of Karpora Cheshmashahi said the security personnel had searched the area including their houses on the eve of Modi’s visit and the area was put on high alert.

“I left home at 9 am to attend the duty but was not allowed by forces to go ahead of Nishat garden,” said Mohammad Ashraf, who works in Health Department. “The government should have made an announcement that Boulevard will be sealed,” he said.
