SRINAGAR: Ruling BJP’s Kashmir Unit on Thursday urged the central government to restore 4G high-speed internet in J&K as it can be helpful to reach out people. This, it said, while lauding the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir administration to combat the virus spread.

Party’s Media-in charge, Manzoor Bhat in a statement lauded the efforts of the administration to combat the spread of Covid-19 and appealed people to follow the guidelines issued by the authorities. He urged the central government to restore the high-speed Internet across J&K as it is a need of the hour.

Bhat said that as COVID-19 spreads at an alarming rate, the public health officials have called for minimal public gatherings “which is pushing many activities online. Most of the educational institutions have shifted to online lesson plans, but due to slow internet speed they are unable to access the same,” Bhat was quoted saying in the statement.

The statement said awareness about the virus has become critical and people should have all means to gather important information and authorities must also use conventional media platforms to spread awareness.

“Doordarshan and All India Radio can be best mediums to spread awareness about the Covid-19 in both Kashmiri and Urdu languages so that everyone can understand,” he said.
