Srinagar, July 26: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mehmood Shah asked the J&K Police to refrain from inflicting “brutalities” upon the family members of slain militant Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, saying such acts “force us to take strong action”.

LeT spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to GNS quoted the Shah as saying that “J&K Police have sold their soul and their lives” before New Delhi for “petty” salaries.

“We are in the process of identification of the policemen involved in this act. They will be held accountable for the dishonour they did, and will not be spared. We will make an example out of them,” LeT chief said, adding, “We will never tolerate the brutality against the families of our (militant) brethren. Such heinous crimes will have severe consequences for everyone involved.”

Mehmood Shah also claimed responsibility for the grenades hurled on CRPF bunker at Zerpora, Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district which resulted in injury to 5 CRPF personnel. He paid tribute to militants killed in Khud Wani. (GNS)
