SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Housing and Urban Development, and Social Welfare Asiea Naqash today emphasized on creating wide awareness of livelihood schemes for the benefit of the women.

The Minister was speaking as Chief Guest at an event organized by Urban Development Agency Kashmir (UDAK) under National Urban Livelihood Mission Scheme.

Asiea while speaking at this occasion said that women from all sections of the society should come forward to take the benefit of Government sponsored schemes.

The Minister said that the women hold an important place both in social and economic spheres of life and empowering them is akin to empowering the whole society.

She impressed upon the officials of Social Welfare to develop strategies for assisting women in skill and entrepreneurship development.

In order to become self sufficient, the Minister asked the Self Help Groups to come forward and take benefits from UDAK. She also maintained that to make the schemes of UDAK a success, more and more women should be roped in.

Later, the Minister distributed revolving fund cheques among 163 Self Help Groups worth Rs 10,000 each under the National Urban Livelihood Mission Scheme.

The function was attended by MLA Batamalloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, MLA, Anjum Fazili, Vice-Chairman State Road Transport Corporation, Haji Parvez, CEO UDAK, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar.
