JAMMU, NOVEMBER 23 [KNZ]- Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare Department, Asiea Naqash today paid a surprised visit to SMGS Hospital, Jammu to take stock of the Medicare facilities being provided to the patients.

The Minister visited OPD, Skin Care Unit, and Pediatric ward of the hospital and enquired from the patients about the treatment facilities being provided by the hospital. She inquired from the patients about the treatment requirements and whether they are being provided free medicines are not.

Meanwhile, the Minister was apprised by the Incharge doctors about the need for upgrading infrastructure including extension of OPD to cope with huge rush of the patients in the hospital, MRI facility, provision of portable X-ray machines and requirement of many other medical equipment. They further called for repair of washrooms, construction of separate bathrooms for females in and around the hospital, repair of sewerage system and posting of staff as per requirement etc.

The Minister assured that the government would soon come up with a plan to meet these requirements. She directed the doctors to give their best to the patients, especially to the pregnant women who come from far flung and hilly areas.

Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Raj Kumar, besides HoD Dr. Rekha Harish and senior doctors of the hospital interacted with the Minister.
