SRINAGAR, SEP 06 : Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash today convened a meeting to review the progress of Hazratbal-Buchpora road widening.

Besides road widening; acquisition of land for construction of Marriage hall at Dug Mohalla, Rainawari and widening of Zindshah Majid Road were also discussed during the meeting.

The Minister asked officials to expedite the process of road widening so that the traffic snarls are managed.

Naqash asked various law enforcing agencies to remove the already identified 34 structures for widening of the Hazratbal-Buchpora road – which is acting as a bottleneck for the implementation of the project.

In order to build the Marriage Hall at Rainawari, she said that the Srinagar Municipal Commission should quickly pass the acquisition so that the work will begin the soonest.

The Minister remarked that the course of action should itself begin from acquisition process.

Ms Naqash said that in order to upgrade the Shehr-e-Khass, of Srinagar, efforts need to be put in to build these areas following the smart city plan.

She urged the executing agencies to be proactive so that different projects are completed within stipulated period of time. She stressed on the officers for optimal use of funding and removal of bottlenecks in the project of public importance.

The Minister was informed that the Detailed Project Report of Marriage Hall has already been sanctioned under SADP and different agencies are working upon it.

The meeting was attended by District Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director Planning PW (R&B), Chief Engineer, UEED and officials from SMC, LAWDA and R&B
